What is Thermoplastic Painting?
Thermoplastic Painting is a specialized process that involves the application of high-durability thermoplastic materials to create road markings, industrial floor coatings, and other surface markings. Unlike conventional paint, thermoplastic material is heated to a molten state before application and then quickly cools to form a solid, highly durable marking. This process results in markings that are significantly more resistant to wear, weather conditions, and chemicals than traditional paint, making it ideal for high-traffic areas and environments where longevity and visibility are crucial.
Our Thermoplastic Painting Process
Site Assessment
We begin with a thorough evaluation of the application area to determine surface conditions, traffic patterns, environmental factors, and specific requirements that will influence the painting process.
Surface Preparation
The application surface is meticulously cleaned and prepared to ensure optimal adhesion. This may include pressure washing, grinding, or other methods to remove dirt, oil, existing paint, and other contaminants.
Material Selection
We select the appropriate thermoplastic material based on the specific application requirements, considering factors such as traffic volume, weather exposure, and desired durability.
Layout and Marking
Precise measurements and layout work are performed to ensure accurate placement of all markings according to specifications and regulatory requirements.
Thermoplastic Application
The thermoplastic material is heated to the proper temperature (typically 400-425°F) and applied to the prepared surface using specialized equipment. For some applications, reflective glass beads may be added for enhanced visibility.
Cooling and Curing
The applied thermoplastic material is allowed to cool and cure, typically taking just minutes to harden and bond with the surface, creating a durable marking.
Quality Inspection
We conduct a comprehensive inspection to ensure all markings meet quality standards for appearance, thickness, adhesion, and reflectivity where applicable.
